Roger Federer to play Hamburg on this month

Roger Federer will play this month at the German championships in Hamburg, adding a second ATP tournament after Crédit Agricole Suisse Open Gstaad to his unexpected clay court schedule in July.

Federer says on his official website he has entered the tournament which starts July 15.

The following week Federer is committed to the Swiss Open in Gstaad where he last played in 2004 and won the title by beating Igor Andreev as 6-2, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

"I am also looking forward to competing in Hamburg this summer. I always did very well at Rothenbaum, played some fantastic matches and celebrated important victories there - great memories!" said Federer.

Federer had won four titles at Hamburg, most recently in 2007 when the event had Masters Series status by defeating Rafael Nadal as 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 in the final. But has not played in the German city since 2008.
