ATP - ROGER EASES INTO QUARTERS
Roger won his fourth-round match today at The Championships in Wimbledon. It was the second time this month that he defeated Sweden's Robin Söderling, this (eleventh) time the result reads 6-4, 7-6(5), 7-6(5).
"This was a serving contest and so it's hard to judge my form just by this match but I have been happy with the way I played in the first week. It was a really dangerous match and thank God he served a double fault because it could have been a fourth set," Roger said.
Roger won the first set by breaking the Swede in the 10th game. After that, both players held serve until the end of the match, fighting closely in both tie-breaks. Söderling took a 3-2 lead in both of those, but Roger once again showed his class during the important points, eventually taking home both sets. He is now 69-1 in his last 70 matches on grass overall!
Roger will now meet either Fernando Verdasco (ESP) or Ivo Karlovic (CRO) in the quarter finals on Wednesday.
