Miami 2012: The Draw

The draw for the Sony Ericcson Open in Miami is out.

After a first-round bye, Roger will face the winner of the match between America's Ryan Harrison (ATP 73) and Italy's Potito Starace (ATP 58). In the third round he could meet another American, Andy Roddick (ATP 34), former winner of the event. After that, a match with Spain's Nicolas Almagro (ATP 12) or France's Gaƫl Monfils (ATP 14) is possible, before our champ could meet America's Mardy Fish (ATP 8) in the quarter finals.

Having won the three tournaments in Rotterdam, Dubai and Indian Wells lately, could play Novak Djokovic (ATP 1) in the semis.

  1. I think a semis match with Joker in Miami will be a different story this time around, Roger looks focused and unbeatable at the moment! I do hope he incorporates the high backhand volley into his game more, it is definitely another weapon in his arsenal when facing the tops guys, and he has had some recent success with it as well. @Mullitweets

  2. I think Federer has the greatest success when he mixes it up with slices, deep inside-out forehands and of course his patented cross-court backhand with angles and gets away from the baseline rallies. If I were him I would not be lulled into those long baseline rallies with Rafa and Joker, when he does he ends up playing their pace and their game instead of the opposite, that would be my little bit of advice as a big fan and astute observer of Rogers game.
